Since openshift/openshift-state-metrics#54 is merged, we can now sync changes from prometheus-operator/kube-prometheus#616 into CMO.

  • I added CHANGELOG entry for this change.
  • No user facing changes, so no entry in CHANGELOG was needed.

@paulfantom: Bugzilla bug 1858198 is in a bug group that is not in the allowed groups for this repo.
