Track Foursquare edit button referers #407
Comments
I'm not sure what the purpose of this bug is? The URL you need to change is not on our site, it's on the Foursquare site - just add a pk_campaign parameter to it and we will be able to track it in piwik. |
@tomhughes - so this would be good?
|
Yeah - pretty much anything is fine as we haven't really used it at all until now. We pick up a few things via piwik's compatibility with google style utm parameters but nothing much. |
Can we do anything to measure wehether those users end up creating accounts, confirming e-mail, then editing? I'm happy to write a pull req to do this, just wondering if you'd be willing to set up the funnels, etc. @tomhughes. |
Why would you need a pull request? We already have a goal that is triggered by account creation that we can hopefully match against the campaign. Funnels in piwik are pretty ropey - we do have the Funnel plugin installed by it's not being maintained by anybody and it keeps breaking when we upgrade and I've never had much luck trying to get a funnel for account creation working with it. |
Ok, cool. Just trying to help. |
I asked Foursquare to set up pk_campaign=foursquare-edit. Thanks for helping me think through this. |
Does the standard http referrer parameter not already do the same? I.e. allow you to see from where users have originated? What is the advantage of using pk_campaign? Do these OSM edit links only appear on their website, or also through mobile apps? |
@jfirebaugh -
Now that Foursquare has launched their OSM edit button how can we track any people coming in through this edit button on Foursquare?
@tomhughes pointed me earlier to this documentation on tracking campaigns (osm.org uses piwik):
