My guess is maybe direnv is not hooked to your shell. Can you share content of your You should find a line that looks similar to(Assuming you are using a bash terminal):
If this is missing, add it and restart your terminal session. |

Thank you! By reading through these discussions, I realized I needed to make a
.direnvrc
instead of a./direnvrc
file in my home directory. I didn't realize~/.direnv
was using linux notation and mistakened it for the literal file name. Making that changed fixed the issue.
