Error when running direnv allow

Which step are you stuck on?

Step 7: running direnv allow after adding use python 3.8.15 on .envrc file. Give me the error: use_python: command not found

### Approaches already used to resolve the issue

I re read every step in the installation process, and have everything down for the preinstallation. I also tried reinstalling the penv.

Because of this issue, the venv isn't able to run, since running `which python` gives me

My .envrc file looks like this

`use python 3.8.15` where `python` and `.15` have a different color than  `use` and `3.8` 


And my file directory structure looks like this:


Opia_opensource
     -- ~.
    ---- $direnvrc
   -- oppia
   -- $.envrc

My guess is maybe direnv is not hooked to your shell. Can you share content of your ~/.bashrc or ~/.zshrc file.

You should find a line that looks similar to(Assuming you are using a bash terminal):

eval "$(direnv hook bash)" 

If this is missing, add it and restart your terminal session.

Thank you! By reading through these discussions, I realized I needed to make a .direnvrc instead of a ./direnvrc file in my home directory. I didn't realize ~/.direnv was using linux notation and mistakened it for the literal file name. Making that changed fixed the issue.
