I tried updating my MacBook Pro 2009 to Ventura 13.5 but then the keyboard and mouse stopped responding. How do I fix that?

Apple is the manufacturer. If they don't know, we won't. The best option would be try contacting them again and potentially getting someone who knows or factory resetting software.
