I have everything installed correctly, and it is activated, but it does not show any suggestion even though I insist on it, the VS code is just installed and it only has GitHub Copilot as the only extension |

What do you see in View -> Output; choose GitHub Copilot from the pull down. |

Maybe you can check whether you have received the copilot's invitation first. If so, just enter vscode and reload the copilot. |

Some have hinted it may be a proxy issue. We use a proxy that intercepts ssl. Is there a config option to tell copilot to ignore cert validation errors, point it to a ca certs file, or tell it to use the Window's trust store? |

Added to no_proxy the suggested URLs and it didn't worked... I don't have access for disabling my company Firewall or changing it's configuration. |

I'm running VSC on windows. I started VSC again, but "Ran as Administrator", it then did some kind of validation with github and now works. |

Thanks everyone for your answers, it seems that my project did not generate a js that was needed to be able to work with copilot |

@fcoking can you please explain a bit how you fixed your issue? i have the same problem, same GitHub account with activated Copilot works on all my other devices but my work/corporate installation of VSCode doesn't have copilot. i am successfully into my GitHub and have reinstalled the copilot plugin few times. when i do View-> Output i can choose 'Githib Copilot" from drop-down menu but there is no icon in the status bar and OUTPUT window remains empty. our corporate network has SOPHOS firewall and proxy. i don't know if there i something i do incorrectly or the proxy stopping copilot to work. |

The Githib Copilot in VSCode can be directly installed by clicking the search box in the four block diagrams on the left. Then you can see the Githib Copilot image in the lower right corner. However, there is no prompt to input the code according to the document, so we don't know where the problem is.

I found that the problem may be caused by the internet environment. After I connected my computer to my phone's hot spot, it worked successfully. Maybe you guys can try it out by checking out your devices' internet condition. |

I had 2 accounts signed in VS Code, signed out the non-github account (in my case it was outlook account). Signed in from Github account this time it is working. In my case I received preview on my outlook account still i had to remove it and use my github account that was created using the outtlook account. |

On the bottom right I didn't see a Copilot icon, but a notification. When I clicked on it, I could agree to the terms of the Copilot. Afterwards it worked! |

My problem has been solved, VScode can be used normally, when a connection is invited to use in VScode search after install Copilot, the bottom right hand corner ICONS need to click the activated state, and then disconnect the broadband and wireless networks or use a mobile phone hot or broken network test, directly enter a comment, after will have code hinting, Press the Tab key to accept, press Enter to the next line, and so on, until there is no end of code generation. Can use other logic of want to annotate, VScode test only support JavaScript language at present. Other language test is invalid. Then Pycharm support Java language, the test has no effect. Hope to have the solution to this problem bosses to make technical guidance. Because the language used for Python, my hope about Python testing successful bosses do the technical support.

Do you have a notification icon on the bottom right on which you can click and are prompted to accept the terms? I had to do this, then it worked.

I had this issue, and it seemed like installation had failed. I tried a few things, but eventually this worked:
Close VSCode (optional, but if you don't it will get a bit confused and maybe slow)
Go to VSCode data dir (On linux this was ~/.vscode, on windows I would guess it's in AppData) and then the extensions sub dir.
Delete the copilot directory
Restart VSCode
Confirm internet access (this seems to be what caused the issue, some kind of drop whilst it was downloading)
Install Copilot again, and login as usual.
After that, many more files were in place, and it worked fine. Before, just uninstalling hadn't helped.

confirmed here, disconnecting from corporate vpn (which also disables the proxy), a notification about telemetry appears on the bottom, accepting it enables the extension and works.. unfortunately, turning the vpn back blocks the extension and icons stops to appear after reload. |
