Could You add Geoportal imagery for countrywide Poland from the following link: http://wms.misek.pl/geoportal.orto/tms/{zoom}/{x}/{y}/
This link has been provided on Polish Openstreetmap forum http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=22525

Please tell if any more info is needed to complete this.
Thank You
Tomek

I also would like to add it to iD/Potlatch as default in Poland, because it's better than Bing here. The legal state of polish Geoportal is described here:

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Geoportal.gov.pl

and JOSM already uses it for a few months - however JOSM uses original WMS data, and this URL is a user-set WMS/TMS proxy. I contacted him and he gave the permission to use it as default id/Potlatch imagery in Poland.

BTW - polygon for GeoPortal 2 is defined here:

https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Maps/Poland#Geoportal2:Ortofotomapaaerialimage

What else is needed is to think about fallback in case of any problems with that layer (and any other country- or area-specific layer). Probably Bing layer would do.

No editors correctly honor the default setting in this repo. iD ignores it and JOSM mis-handles it.

Does it mean it's a deal breaker (for now at least) or just something more should be done? Can you give some technical background what is the problem with it?

It means that adding the imagery is fine, but it won't be default in any editors.

Is it already reported as an iD bug?

#54 also needs fixing, the schema definition is inconsistent with what it outputs for JOSM.

openstreetmap/iD#1310 is closed as WONTFIX "unless we can have a stronger system 'rating quality' or the like" but some cases are obvious, Geoportal is clearly superior to Bing.

Quality of images is one thing, but even more important are correct offsets. Geoportal is so good that it is considered as base for other offsets (better quality than GPS used by mappers). Bad Bing offsets are often source of problems as new users using iD move everything to "fix" offsets.

We are providing the information, or will be once #54 is fixed. It's up to editors to decide what to do with it.
