From @astoff in openstreetmap/iD#2256:

Two extremely useful raster layers have been made available for use in Brazil: "IBGE Mapa de Setores Rurais" and "IBGE Mapa de Setores Urbanos". They are listed in JOSM's imagery preferences, and the TMS addresses can be found there.

These options should appear in the background settings panel when editing in Brazil, just like the USGS topographic map appears there when editing in the USA.

@tmpsantos, do you have a bounding box and/or polygon for the IBGE tms layers you prepared recently?

Also, can you confirm that the license is "Public Domain with Attribution" (sic) ?

Public Domain doesn't require attribution. If Attribution is required, we really need to know what the terms are for the attribution

Hi there,

Information about IBGE data license was previously clarified here at the ML:
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/imports/2013-July/002031.html
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/imports/2013-July/002032.html

In a short, IBGE states that everything in their public ftp (where this raster images were taken from) is Public Domain but they ask for citing the sources. Later, when questioned, they state that tagging like "source=IBGE" is enough.

I personally wrote to them asking for details about the license and got the same reply. I can forward the reply (pt_BR) to anyone interest.

The bounding box is defined here:
https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Maps/Brazil

Cheers,

Someone needs to create a pull request to add it.
