I think this is a great start: https://github.com/overview/overview-server/wiki/Setting-up-a-development-Environment
Since the project is on Github - contributing is then pretty straight forward.

The "Contributing" page of the Devise project: https://github.com/plataformatec/devise/wiki/Contributing
could be a good source of inspiration. They also have a section on contributing in the README which links to that page.

Hi! Definitely we should have a contributing page. I take it you're inclined to hack on Overview a bit? If so, could I ask you to take some notes on what you learn in the process of getting involved, and we can put them on this page?

Old bug cleanup: we have some pretty cool documentation and quite a few contributors now :)
