It seems that it is not possible to sync entire folder to owncloud using the Android app. This would be killer feature.

This was already requested previously , but I can't find the issue, so let's keep it open.

Hope we can finally focus on this soon.

I don't see how this would be a killer feature. This is mandatory basic functionality one would expect from such an app and it is not present. What do I see? I see a brick wall of non-usability:

How do I mass-upload a Gallery full of photos? Do I pick them one by one in the file manager cough? Or do I pick them one by one in the gallery app cough cough?

How do I keep a directory on the server to which I can put files from my computer and they would just pop up on my mobile? Or am I supposed to spend the next three days clicking?

I also need this! Anyone is working on it already? Maybe I could help...

+1 this. Synchronizing music or photos or bookmarks is impractical if I have to click on each one individually and check the please sync box.

Sync for Windows to my OC server works perfect - why is this such an issue for Android please?

I guess they need to reinvent the whell in java.

they could have just statically compiled mirall/ocsync and provided a java UI
for android purposes. Or even provided a GUI-less mirall.

mirral(owncloud desktop sync) app seems to only run with GUI.
I've tried running ocsync (it appears the 'OC' in the name has nothing
to do with owncloud) , which has an owncloud module, on a sane Linux userspace without success.

As much as Google has tried turning Linux into something consumer-friendly(read: rubbish), Android is still Linux and I really don't see the point in rewriting everything.

+1. This would allow to sync music collection (for example) between all devices and keep it up to date.

+1. The moment this feature exists, I could switch from Evernote to OwnCloud.

Not sure what the timeline is for this. I did hear that there were some plans to make it work in a clean way but it might take some time, right ?

Not sure how long it would take, but if it's more than a few releases I suggest to add a "quick fix" for now that works as follows:

  1. Add a "long press" menu entry when I press on a folder that is called "Download folder"
  2. Make that action simply select all files inside the folder and subfolders and mark them as "keep in sync"

I don't mind if it's not possible to revert back from this state.
At least I wouldn't need to manually click on the 200+ pictures I wanted to download from my ownCloud to my phone.

Thanks.

@PVince81 , sorry, but there is no timeline for this.

The two steps you describe are what we have in our minds. Not being able to cancel it... where, I understand it's not a problem for you, but I am pretty sure it can be for some people.

Keep the faith. We will get this some day.
