Hi,

wouldn't it be nice to have a picture slideshow in the android app (maybe it the iOs app as well?)?

best regards
Herbert

That can be somewhat achieved by downloading pictures, as those should show up in the gallery app.

Could be fine, but now we have higher priorities. The Gallery app is available in all the Android devices, it should do the work by now.

I think using the Gallery app in a mobile browser is not user friendly. In my opinion it should be a basic feature to manage Photos in the cloud in a decent way. That means it should be possible to have thousands of Photos in owncloud that are not synchronized with mobile devices but can easily viewed by the mobile app with thumbnails generated on server side.

We are talking about Android's Gallery app.

I understand that, but with Android's Gallery app I can only browse local Files and I don't want to sync plenty of Gigabytes of Pictures with my phone.

I thought you were talking about the gallery app inside the owncloud web UI, because you were also talking about a mobile browser.

@qstarx That's a different thing. You said it, what you want is browsing thumbnails generated in the server. That's here owncloud/core#86

And I agree, that would be cool.

This is done in app 1.4.0. Not saying it can't be improved, but new issues should be used for bugs or improvements on it.

Hello, @davivel, I don't understand what is done in app 1.4.0 ? I don't see the option to have thumbnails, am I blind?

By the way, do you know if there's any news regarding owncloud/core#86 ? Is there something new with OC6?

Hi, @etiess. This issue was not about thumbnails, but about watching easily the images inside the ownCloud app. At least that's what we understood in the past, and that's why we closed this issue.

From version 1.4.0, when an image is clicked in the list of files, it is downloaded (if needed) and seen in a specific view into the ownCloud app. An external app is not necessary to see the image. Besides, swiping on the image results in showing the next image file in the same folder.

For thumbnails and other improvements in the gallery it's better to follow #86, #239 or adding new issues. Merging and reopening old issues makes harder the tracking of things that are done.

Thank you @davivel ! I assume you were speaking about owncloud/core#86 (and not #86) ;-)

Let's go to #239
