- Q: What is mba6x_bl?
- A: mba6x_bl is a backlight driver for MacBook Airs.
- Q: What's the purpose of mba6x_bl?
- A: The driver is used to work around a platform backlight issue with newer MacBook Air models. Without the driver the backlight can only be set to full brightness or totally off after a suspend/resume cycle.
- Q: How does mba6x_bl work?
- A: mba6x_bl hijacks the backlight driver chip in your MacBook Air. This effectively disables the Intel backlight driver and should on most systems automatically be selected as the prefered backlight device for your UI hotkeys.
