Highlighter and navigation #348
Comments
I'm sorry, the outline parsing is depended on the information of the highlighter. |
@lepascalou you can now disable the navigation panel completely in Window / Panels, in case you didn't already... |
Thanks, with the new parser I can now disable highlighting in editor but still have the outline navigation working, that's great !! |
That might have been working even before today's release, or didn't it? |
I think that was a side-product of #302... |
Ha, fact is I got used to the markdown highlighting and didn't think more of it until now :) |
That would have been my next question, why you didn't want the highlighting... :) |
By the way, @lepascalou, not liking a lot of colors in one's notes is the perfect excuse for clicking together a non-colorful schema and send it to me to add it to QON! 🎉 |
Good to see that the Issue is already known, although the behaviour won't be changed. The non-updating Navigation also catched my attention. I just want to stress that this is kind of confusing behaviour for the user. ... With markdown highlighting disabled you still see the navigation of the note (with headers) that was focused before disabling the highlighting. You switch between notes and the navigation won't update. It is still clickable but it would jump to miscellaneous postions if you opened other notes than that very one the navigation belongs to. I would argue that's confusing to a point where I assume it would be better to automatically disable navigation view once markdown highlighting is disabled... |

I just ran into "no navigation in the navigation panel when highlighting is switched off". Maybe expand the text in settings:
Or, add a confirmation dialog with a note that the navigation panel will be disabled. |
I added a tooltip, that's enough clutter. |
Would it be possible to allow for navigation parsing to work while markdown highlighting is off ?
If I disable the syntax highlighter in the options, I cannot see the outline of the documents, and the navigation pane remains visible (is just empty).
This is under Archlinux x86_64.
