There doesn't appear to be instructions for how to get this working beyond installing the application and running it. No matter what I tried, I could never see an icon in the Touch Bar.

I may be missing something, but this is what I tried doing:

  1. Download the application here: https://muteme.pixelpoint.io.
  2. Move the app to Applications folder.
  3. Run the app. Notice that it is running in the Menu Bar, but not in the Touch Bar.
  4. Open preferences of the app.
  5. Choose "Open at login."
  6. Launch an application that uses the microphone.
  7. Restore OS X Touch Bar settings to:
    • Touch Bar shows: App Controls [X] Show Control Strip.
    • Customize Touch Bar... > Drag in the default set.
  8. Restart Mute Me.
  9. Reinstall Mute Me.

After every step, I was looking down at the TouchBar, and did not see the icon. I only saw the 4 standard buttons: expand arrow, volume slider, mute/unmute, Siri.

Should the button appear automatically the moment you launch it?

Hi @senseful
Sorry, but I can't reproduce this problem. Could you try our new pre-release version https://github.com/pixel-point/mute-me/releases/tag/v2.0.0-rc2? Maybe it solves this bug because it is rebuilt for MacOS 10.14.

Hi,
Has this issue already solved?
I have the same issue on my MacBook Pro.

I tried to install v2.0.0-rc2 instead of the latest release (v.1.2.0).
But no icon was shown in Touch Bar.

in keyboard preferences, set Touch Bar shows to "App Controls" and Show Control Strip is checked.

Ok, so I figured out where the mute button lives:

System Preferences > Keyboard > Touch Bar shows "App Controls"

I user "Expanded Control Strip". They need to get it onto that option.

Edit: Addressed in #35. Can't be done yet.
