I'm happy to announce that PocketBase was approved to receive a grant of $20,000 as part of the Chrome Advanced Web Apps Fund.
The TLDR version is that starting from November I'll be able to work full-time on PocketBase for at least 5 months.
Short-term and Long-term goals
The current short term goal is to have a v0.8.0-alpha pre-release within the next 2-3 weeks.
The v0.8.x release will come with a lot of changes (some of which unfortunately are breaking), but here is a list of what you could expect in terms of features:
json
field props filter and sort support Feature suggestion: Support SQLite json_extract function #423 (comment)In short, the plan for now is:
The long term goal is to complete the v1.0.0 roadmap and to spend more time researching 3 specific topics:
How to simplify the collections migration between environments [#489]
Export/import of records data from/to different sources (csv, json, etc.) Import/Export CSV/JSON #48 (comment)
Workflow builder in the Admin UI (this will probably replace and extend the existing Collection triggers feature request; I'll try to add some implemention details after v0.8 release)
What does this mean for Presentator
I didn't forget about Presentator (after all PocketBase was initially created because of it).
Once we tackle the above issues and stabilize the PocketBase API, I'll split my time between the 2 open source projects and will try to meet the initial development schedule from presentator/presentator#183. I'll make sure to document the process so that Presentator could be used also as an example for mid-size PocketBase app.
That's it :). Special shout-out to the Google/Chrome Advanced Apps Fund team and to everyone else who contributed so far (financially, by reporting bugs or making PRs). Thank you!
