Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the tracker for existing similar issues and I know that duplicates will be closed

Describe the Issue

after upgrading to v10.19.5 it wanted me to sign in I signed into my gmail account then I lost all my collections and history, that history was critical as some of those requests I hadn't saved. This has caused an extreme inconvenience and I don't even know where to start with recovering all that data that took years to accumulate

Steps To Reproduce

upgrade to the latest postman as a signed out user

@imne After you sign up, you'd have got an pop up to migrate your scratchpad data, in case you missed this, you can go to Settings, Data and Migrate scratchpad data which will transfer all scratchpad data to your signed in workspace

+1 (and I guess there are much more similar stories). That was just fucking stupid idea. Why the hell you put absolutely artificial limitations to your users? Create an account to do what? Organize my requests which are stored on my hard drive? What The Fuck guys, really? Good luck suckers.

Thanks I was able to get back about 75% of my data, the collections now seem to be there, but the history is completely gone, have requests in my history that I never got a chance to save in my collections, is there anyway to retrieve that? so I have my full history also?

I've got no idea why there was a need to cause so much inconvenience to so many people, extremely frustrating, my company is even look as alternatives for postman already cause who knows what the next update will break

I don't like ranting, but I'm so done with this product. I used to like Podman for getting some simple API testing done, but the recent changes have made that it abundandly clear that you do not care about that use-case in the slightest. In a corporate environment I can't just synchronize API metadata to the cloud with getting a ton of approvals. And it's not worth the trouble for me.

And to add to all of this, you're actively working against users to downgrade to older releases. So I will also suggest moving to a different product now.

I'm not sure, it just requires signing in with an account. Offline scratchpads are gone. And I can't even get them back since I updated to the latest version without signing in. So all the effort I spend building that collection of APIs has gone down the drain. So yeah, not exactly amused about that..

Edit: It really does sync it to the cloud.. https://support.postman.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003356485-Can-I-use-Postman-locally-

All of my collections got wiped after the upgrade. In the new versions, there is also an online requirement if you want to use collections. Am I seriously supposed to store information from sensitive API endpoints in your cloud? Are you crazy? 😂
