The solution to deal with the error: conda update xarray (proposed in #152 (comment)) didn't work. Probably because the most recent updates aren't yet in the binaries.

While being in the pypsa-africa conda environment use this:
pip install git+git://github.com/pydata/xarray@main
to update to the most recent xarray GitHub version in the main and solve the issue.
