Currently, for example, if I create a "Files (Multiple)" field type called "Image Gallery" and i have a "Featured" (Boolean) field assigned to images in the "Image Gallery" folder, I cannot edit this boolean field in the context of the stream entry. Instead, when i click "Edit" i get taken to a completely different context and then have to come back to my stream entry and re-enter the data that i had already updated in the form.
This is cumbersome and not a good user experience. Here is how Craft handles this: https://goo.gl/HXyL6D

Also - it would be nice if the image was clickable and went to the source. On a side note, why does clicking on the "View" link from within the files module not generate a link to the file source (S3 in my case). Instead, it takes me to a files module url. I'm not sure why anyone would want this behavior. It's frustrating that i can't do the most basic possible thing with a file (click on a link to it's source).
