Please provide the following information

qBittorrent version and Operating System:

qBitorrent v3.3.12
Windows 10 Pro Version 1703, OS version: 15063.483

Windows 10 10.0.15063

What is the problem:

Computer goes to sleep even if I have active downloads and selected inhibit system sleep in qBittorrent settings.

What is the expected behavior:

The computer does not go to sleep

Steps to reproduce:

Enable "Inhibit system sleep" in qBittorrent settings
Set sleep delay at 1 min in Windows power settings
Add a new torrent and wait for download to start
Computer will go to sleep after 1 minute

Extra info(if any):

That's possibly not the ONLY way qBitTorrent screws up Sleep mode...

Does this also happen to you:
High CPU usage after sleep #7104

I don't experience high CPU usage.

This sleep problem is annoying as I live in a country where internet is slow and electricity expensive. I can't leave the computer always on...

That "Inhibit system sleep" feature may be broken only under Win 10 Pro or it could be broken for lots of people on other OSes?

Inhibit sleep feature is broken for me as well - on Win 10 64bit Home.

Same issue on Windows 8.1 and 10. Whether I enable or disable the option, the computer still goes to Sleep. I believe this happens because the torrents are only 'seeding' without actually uploading anything. But I want to keep my computer awake whenever I have qBittorrent on so that it can seed whenever someone new comes on the line...

I believe I may have the same problem. I'd also like it to remain seeding while not on battery and closed, and then let it go to sleep when I'm on battery or I lose internet connection.

My problem is with a desktop computer...

Might be a bit more difficult cu achieve that with a laptop. Maybe try other torrenting software...

I'm not sure, but it seems that the inhibit sleep only works when the program is NOT minimized. Leaving the window maximized and active (in the foreground) seems to prevent my computer from sleeping, while if the program is minimized the computer will sleep. Please let me know if I am wrong about this.

Why this problem can't be resolved once for all ? I have that problem since ... i dunno ... 3-4+ years ???

I had Windows 7 and now 10, still same problem. What is the meaning of introducing new functions and features, if some so long-standing problems can't be fixed ?

@sn0skier minimized or not makes no difference.

@eurobank that seems something standard in the IT field... Look at Windows, had a bug fixed after 37 years or how many... It means do not lose hope, hahaha.

"Active torrents" is a somewhat unintuitive concept as a basis for
preventing sleep, as torrents can become active or inactive on the
network at any time. This brings some predictability to the inhibit
sleep option, and will inhibit sleep as long as there are unpaused
downloads or uploads, regardless of network activity.

Closes qbittorrent#1696, qbittorrent#4592, qbittorrent#4655, qbittorrent#7019, qbittorrent#7159, qbittorrent#7452

This is still happening for me with version 4.2.3!

This was more than likely fixed by PR #12404 which made it in to 4.2.4 - In any case, please update to latest qBittorrent 4.3.1

This issue has been closed and locked for being too old, and thus either most likely resolved in recent versions or no longer applicable.
If you experience the reported problem or similar in the latest version, please open a new issue report with the requested information in the issue template.

A new issue report with relevant updated data gathered from the latest version is preferable to necroing an old report with a comment like "still happens in version x.y.z", even if you think the bug is the same, or suspect of a regression. Due to the changes made to the qBittorrent code and its dependencies over time, the exact cause of your problem could be totally different than the original one, despite the visible symptoms of the bug being similar. Thus, providing relevant updated information is crucial to find and fix the root cause of a recurrent problem or regression.

Thank you for your contributions.
