When I go to the Settings ("Préférences" in my browser) menu of QOwn Notes Web Companion via about:addons, in the frame where the extension ui lives there is only white background, then periodically the ui appear and "run" very fast to the bottom of the page, disappearing from the view.
qownnotesweb

Expected behaviour

The settings ui stays in its place so we can use it

Actual behaviour

The ui is impossible to use because moving too fast

Steps to reproduce

Install QOwnNotes Web Companion 2024.2.4 in firefox, go to about:addons -> QOwnNotes Web Companion -> Préférences (Settings ?)

Output from the debug section in the settings dialog in QOwnNotes

Not accessible

Relevant log output in the Log panel in QOwnNotes

Not connected

Hm... I can't reproduce that. No "running" for me...

I tried a lot of window resolutions, but wasn't able to make the settings misbehave...

That's definitely resolution ! By default my browser zoom is at 120% and I didn't think it could be because of this, but at 100% the frame stop growing, and at 90% it shrinks until it has its normal size.

Hah, I can reproduce that. But only in Firefox. Thank you. 😊 I wonder how that happens...

But it was not the resolution of the page (e.g. browser resize)... It only happens when a zoom level is set to over 100%.

2024.4.0

  • the "running away" of the Preferences dialog was fixed under Firefox when
    using a zoom-level over 100% (for #63)

But I wasn't able to avoid the page resizing itself in the background. Hard to debug, you can't even inspect the page to see what happens.

I can't control the "running away" of the background. Firefox is setting a height on the part of the page by itself, I can't even see into the control it uses for showing the preferences...

<browser type="content" disableglobalhistory="true" messagemanagergroup="webext-browsers" id="addon-inline-options" transparent="true" forcemessagemanager="true" autocompletepopup="PopupAutoComplete" initialBrowsingContextGroupId="352" remote="true" style="height: 382285px;"></browser>

The 382285px part is constantly increasing...

There now is a new release, could you please test it and report if it works for you?
