Lots of fixes to eliminate PHP notices, etc. Props to Flynsarmy.

Rad from memory my above changes cause issues in some places in the admin so please do thorough testing of everything now that you've merged. |

This pull request fixes all the calling non-static method statically, deprecation, incompatible implementation etc warnings visible in feedwordpress with WP_DEBUG turned on.
