Final Project

You will make short digital film. It should be somewhere between 3 + 12 minutes in length. (But again quality over quantity) The piece can be documentary, experimental or narrative in style. Choose one of the following:

  • Create a self portrait
  • Create a film about a person, place or community. If a person they should not be someone you are related to or close friends with (unless you have a good reason). Perhaps it is a member of your community. Maybe someone you admire or someone you are curious about. Write and direct a narrative fictional film, set in a single location with at least two characters.

You must shoot this project with a DSLR + tripod, editing in Adobe Premiere. This also means thinking about sound. The lab has 2 shotgun mics as well. Start planning your production: begin writing, storyboarding, scouting locations, schedule interviews, etc.

HW:

  • Second week of shooting footage due next class. Be prepared to screen + discuss your footage, initial edits + progress w/ the class.
