Do this because we often want to test the rpm by its
use in a docker image. Waiting the extra time for the
stable updates push is not valuable.

I fine with this.

Would it make sense to drop installing from an RPM for good? Does it bring any value or just adds delay?

Well - per informal policy, let's continue to install from RPM. Let's take it up in PPTL.

(Using Fedora rpms for deps, for instance, helps ensure that our deps meet legal requirements in Fedora. How important is that for our use cases? Unclear.)
