Topics

  • SBI Reset extension (revisit)
    • discussion: https://lists.riscv.org/g/tech-unixplatformspec/message/212
    • discussion: https://lists.riscv.org/g/tech-unixplatformspec/message/226
    • Lots of discussion on the merits of re-using the ARM PSCI specification and its Linux implementation
      • On the positive side:
        • It appears to be technically feasible
        • The belief is it will reduce work in defining a RISC-V SBI spec
        • We could re-use some of the testing work done for PSCI
        • The overlap in functions is significant
      • On the negative side:
        • SBI is already in the Linux kernel; why deprecate it?
        • PSCI has many ARM-specific functions defined that cannot be reused
        • The belief is that it will take significant work to reshape the SBI implementation around the PSCI structure
        • The only overlap in functions are system reset
      • Research to be done:
        • Are there complicating issues in regards to the PSCI spec licensing?
        • Are there implications in ARM being the sole arbiter of content?
        • How much overlap is there really?
  • SBI PMU extension (revisit)
  • Proposal: Hart Suspend Extension for IDLE (revisit)
  • Proposal: Introduction to spec (revisit)
  • Proposal: Add RustSBI into 'SBI Implementation IDs' list (revist)
  • Existing SBI PRs:
    • Atish has been going back through the PRs; at least one more falls in the "mostly obvious" category; Reset and PMU are still under discussion, others needs odds and ends touched up; review will continue
  • Connecting to the config group (new)
    • The chair of the new config group spoke about what their goals are and how the groups might fit together. There were questions about how this fit in with existing github repos for config tools and of course how efforts could be coordinated; this was introductory, so more to come in the future.

Open Floor

  • The Cache Management Operations (CMO) group ended up having meetings at exactly the same day and time, except they alternate Mondays while we are weekly for now. Will see if there's a way to undo this overlap.
