I believe switching to TypeScript will pay huge dividends in the long run. If previous experience is any guide, it will feel like a painful slow process at first, but when it reaches a tipping point all the compilation warnings will vanish very quickly and it'll feel insane that we ever weren't using TypeScript.
My inclination is to do it a bit at a time, rather than all in one go, so that it doesn't block other stuff from happening.
