Roots Search doesn't work

When I am in the person's details page for FamilySearch Family Tree, I click on the blue magnifying glass in order to search, but I do not get a populated screen.

The little box that comes up just has empty search boxes for names and dates. It does not have any websites listed to the right to search on either. In short, it doesn't work.

I tried to put a screen shot here, but it may not work. If just just copy and paste what I see, it looks like this (without formatting):

RootsSearch
First Name

Last Name

Birth Date

Birth Place

Death Date

Death Place

Spouse First Name

Spouse Last Name

Father First Name

Father Last Name

Mother First Name

Mother Last Name

Feedback

I deleted the extension and reinstalled it, but it still does the same thing.

What should I do?

May I ask what page (URL) you were on when you used the app?

but I tried it on several different ancestor pages with their details open
and it doesn't work on any of them.

This appears to be a bug in FamilySearch's code. Notice the family relationships doesn't load on that page. I'll report it to FamilySearch.

Can you confirm that RootsSearch works on other pages in the FamilySearch Family Tree?

Actually, the URL I got from your second message was oddly formatted to it looked like it was a bug, but it really wasn't. And I see now that you said it doesn't work on any of the pages, A few others have reported a similar problem, but I haven't been able to reproduce the problem or figure out what's wrong. I'll keep you posted on any developments.

If you're willing, it would help me to know what errors are being reported by your browser. You can see this by clicking F12 then clicking the small error icon in the bottom right, just left of the gear. When you do that, a list of errors and warnings will appear. A screenshot of that list would be helpful.

Today when I went into the pages to the various pages to send you the
information you asked for below, the Roots Search app worked and it
populated the fields. I've tried it on several pages and it works on all of
them now.

Whatever you did to fix it, it works now.

Thank you. If you need anything else from me, let me know. I'm excited to
try the app and use it in my research.

It seems that sometimes RootsSearch doesn't start correctly when first entering the FamilySearch Family Tree. Reloading the page F5 often fixes the problem.

I have tried to use RootsSearch on both FamilySearch and Ancestry.com. Both times I get the blue magnifying glass, which opens a box for fill in, but I do not get any button where I can click on it to get the search started. There is a link for feedback but that is all. Even hitting the space bar does nothing. I am on a MacBrook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion.

I've noticed that roots search doesn't work when open in a second window. @crwinfla do you sometimes have a second window open?

This was reverted by a PR that was merged. Will need to fix it again :(
