Note added to README regarding unresponsive devices on an internet connected network, correct method of blocking.

Hi, I'm trying to set up localtuya for some tuya devices I own. As I follow the README instructions, I'm stuck on the Nov 2020 comment that says to not only block Internet Access, but also block the DNS requests. How does one go about this? I have a TP-Link router. What feature do I need to enable to do this block? If I could get some additional clarification or terms to search for, I would appreciate it. I believe my router uses some third party site as it's DNS server. I would like to know what to block specifically. Is it the device of interest to my router? Thank you. |
You might be able to use pihole and block the specific domain (that only works if they don't force their own dns). But you don't need to block internet. |
Also the static routing thing might help. |
@KTibow I just installed AdGuard on my HomeAssistant. To confirm, I just need to use AdGuard as my DNS server, and filter / block the tuyaus.com domain for the entire network, correct? Thanks. |
