A note that some warnings could be fixed by running a cargo fix command was added in #10989 and made to work with clippy in #11399. It has only been turned on for nightly builds so far; this PR would make it show on stable.

The original motivation for making this note nightly only, was to allow for iteration on the message output. There has yet to be any feedback on the message format in the time that it has been on nightly. This was brought up in a recent cargo team meeting and it was thought that we should move forward with showing this on stable.

A passing reference to this was made by Amos at https://fasterthanli.me/series/updating-fasterthanli-me-for-2022/part-1

This suggestion is machine-applicable, which means running "cargo fix" (or accepting the suggestion from your code editor) will fix it automatically. Not only does it make the code simpler (one less byte, yes!), it also means less work for the compiler to do, hence, faster compiles.

From last time, our open questions were

  • Should the message stay in the summary line or be on its own line?
    • The summary line can be very long with the current implementation
  • Should the command be specific or genera?
  • Should the command to run be per target or shown once at the end?
  • Should version control specific flags be added to the command to run?

but not having seen any talk of this feature, we have no way to progress without just stablizing it and refining it from there (or reverting this PR).
