This is a Ruby gem designed to repair broken JSON strings. Inspired by and based on the jsonrepair js library. It efficiently handles and corrects malformed JSON data, making it especially useful in scenarios where JSON output from LLMs might not strictly adhere to JSON standards. Whether it's missing quotes, misplaced commas, or unexpected characters, it ensures that the JSON data is valid and can be parsed correctly.
Add this gem to your application's Gemfield by executing:
$ bundle add json-repairAlternatively, if you are not using Bundler to manage your dependencies:
$ gem install json-repairUsing JSON::Repair is straightforward. Simply call the repair method with a JSON string as an argument:

repaired_json = JSON.repair(broken_json)
puts repaired_json # Outputs: {"name": "Alice", "age": 25}The repair method takes a string containing JSON data and returns a corrected version of this string, ensuring it is valid JSON.
After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run rake spec to run the tests. You can also run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and the created tag, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.
