When the Shivan Comm Node blows up in Into the Lion's Den, FSO suffers a CTD. This occurs with the following command line:

C:\GOG Games\Freespace 2\fs2_open_3_8_1_AVX.exe -mod "MediaVPs_2014" -nospec -nomotiondebris
-nonormal -noheight -nolightshafts -no_deferred

Adding -no_emissive_light prevents the crash. Removing -no_deferred does not prevent the crash, to provide an interesting contrast with #1717. The crash occurs even if the player is not facing the comm node.

Similar to #1708?

Interesting that #1708 displays the same symptoms. But I can't figure out what -no_emissive_light would affect that behavior. I'll run through a debug build and see whether that makes a difference.

The -no_emissive_light option does not prevent the Assertion. I'll fix #1708 and check again.

With the fix for #1708, this no longer crashes, even without the -no_emissive_light option. 🤷‍♂️ Oh well. I'll close this as a duplicate.
