Summary

The change in #4509 is present in 8.5.9, but hasn't made it to 9.4.3.

I assume something weird's gone on in the git merge from 8.5 but despite appearing in the commit history for 9.4:

9c60d7d

and also saying that it's in the 9.4.3 tag, the commit doesn't seem to have stuck if you look at
