Mawire is a lightweight offline Wikipedia reader for Maemo5.
It doesn’t have a builtin article database. In order to actually read the articles, you need to install both Mawire and one of the available article databases, or make one yourself.
Wikipedia has huge number of articles (in any major language). To minimise download size and disk usage, and yet provide as comprehensive dump as possible, Mawire uses specially constructed article database. Articles in the database are stripped of most markup and all images, only “intro” text up to the first heading is used, only articles containing a few sentences or more are included, and the article text is compressed.
Databases for major languages can be found in the Downloads page.
