Multiple Data Files Per Subject Packaging Pane

NoamTalPerry edited this page May 22, 2023 · 1 revision

This pane enables the user to group together multiple .EDF or converted raw data .mat files (created through the extract eye data as .mat pane) into a single .ETA file (see ETA files). This option could be useful if several recordings or sessions are performed by a single participant, or in cases where a participant recording was abrupted and restarted in a different .EDF file. If your participant has only a single .EDF file, you can instead use the Single Data File Per Subject Packaging Pane.

The pane will open with a panel that enables the loading of .EDF files along with an output folder and file name. All .EDF files loaded in a single panel will be packaged into a single .ETA file and will be treated by the toolbox as a single participant multi-session data.

Subject Files Panel

Each Subject Files Panel enables to select several .EDF files or .mat files (converted from .EDF) through the Browse button. Multiple files can be selected, and files can be removed if necessary. By clicking on the Save icon, you will be prompt to select an output folder and a file name for the resulting .ETA file. image

Once the Subject Files Panel is populated by at least one file, an additional empty Subject Files Panel will be added and ready to be loaded by a different participant's files. Removing all files from the first panel will remove the added panel. The additional panel can be left empty if not required. Up to 10 such panels can be displayed and used in one operation. image

Parameters and action buttons

At the bottom of the pane, you will find one parameter and two action buttons:

  • Experiment screen's Pixels Per Visual Degree - While the data in the eye-tracker is recorded in pixels, all spatial magnitudes in the toolbox are reported in visual degrees. In order to convert between pixels to visual degrees, one needs to specify the number of pixels per visual degree in this box. This value will be saved within the created .ETA file and will be used during analysis. For more information on converting pixels to visual degrees, please consult SR Research information page on Visual Angle. image
  • Clear All button - pressing this button will clear the files from all the panels and will remove all additional Subject Files Panels. image
  • Create button - pressing this button will initiate the creation of .ETA file(s) from the inputted .EDF and/or .mat file(s). A window containing a progress bar and information pop once pressed. image
