I have Signal Desktop synchronised with my Android. Yesterday only on desktop one of my contacts lost his name and is represented only by phone number. His photo also disappeared and color that was set fot that conversation changed. Today the same happened for one group-chat. Only on desktop. On android both chats remain with names, profile pictures and colours.

Is it possible that this is a duplicate of #1428 and already fixed by #1437?

EDIT: seems to be happening with every contact or group that sends me message since yesterday... now another friend sent me a message and he is also only represented by number, no photo, no colour...

I don't think I'll ever come back here again, Not being able to access my contact from Signal Chrome for almost a week made me switch all my teams to Wire.

What's taking so long to push the update? This made signal practically unusable.

A fix has been pushed days ago, all you have to do is import the contacts again.

Since it seems to happen to everyone I think it's unreasonable to expect everyone to figure this out.

Contact syncs happen regularly behind the scenes as you add/remove/update contacts on your phone. So that should help.

It sounds like you think that the next version should request a contact sync as soon as it loads?

I believe Signal-Android does not send full contact syncs if you edit a single contact, and it won't help with unknown groups. Requesting a contact sync out of the box sounds like a good idea, though.
