Future Work

Currently, a lot of this code is written in Ruby on Rails, which is somewhat falling out of favor in the web community. It is harder to do really cool new things in Rails. At its heart, Rails is designed to be a heavy-weight app where pages are reloaded each click.

A newer framework like Meteor.js may be a better path forward, which would require a complete rewrite of most of the code. However, this may be a good thing as certain work flows could be made much better, and designed in a more interactive way from the start.

It would also be easier to change from PostgreSQL to MongoDB, which is what Meteor.js works best with out of the box.

If you are a coder, we would love to have you. If you know development practices, and would like to learn or already know Meteor.js, or Rails, join us! If you are a coder and want to learn either of these, join us!
