Installing Python 3 Dev Branch in FOT MATLAB Tools

This process can take up to 15 minutes.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open MATLAB
  2. When prompted, choose “flight” and click “OK”:
  3. After all the automated updates/checks are completed, you should see the axaftools dialog.
  4. Click on the “Settings…” link to open the Settings dialog.
  5. Select the “dev” option in the “Ska Python version” dropdown menu.
  6. Click the “Ok” button.
  7. If you don’t have the dev branch yet, MATLAB should prompt you to install it. Click “Yes” to download and install the dev branch. This will open up a dialog allowing you to specify where to download the branch to. The defaults should be fine.
  8. Click the “OK” button. This step took ~9.5 minutes from my home over the vpn. Your mileage may vary.
  9. You are now running MATLAB with an up-to-date version of the Python3-dev branch!

Note: The next time you open MATLAB, it will default back to the “flight” version of Python, and you will need to follow steps 1-6 to switch back to the Dev Branch if you want to use it.
