We should lay out the most common ways of using a standalone chef cookbook, namely:

  • as a git submodule
  • using the knife-github-cookbooks knife plugin
  • github tarball download (is it even worth mentioning in light of the branch-by-cookbook pattern)?
  • opscode platform once published
