Supporting custom instance links for Kubernetes provider

Issue Summary:

The documentation here indicates that you can add additional links for instances, upon trying this it didn't work for us, looking at the code it seems that this is not available for kubernetes instances.

Support custom instance links for kubernetes, or make it clear in the documentation which providers are supported
