Help descriptions (?) on charts

Problem

It can be difficult to name a metric in a way such that all relevant context is captured.

Similarly we have this problem with parameters on a dashboard, but the (?) help buttons drastically improve this experience.

I think including this feature on st.metrics as well will increase the usability of streamlit dashboards by stakeholders.

Solution

MVP: Help description on st.metrics (the exact same as it is on a parameter).

Possible additions: Bringing this functionality into charts as well.

Hi @parker84, we actually just recently added a help parameter to st.metric. Upgrading to the newest version of Streamlit should allow you to use it.

I'll edit the title of this issue to only mention adding help to charts

Closing this as the original request was only for help parameters on st.metrics which is now implemented.

Happy to reopen if the community upvotes this issue for help parameters on charts, but closing for now since there's no demonstrated interest.
