TriStar VS Pump Notes

Sean Wilson edited this page Mar 2, 2018 · 1 revision

I picked up a TriStar VS SP3200VSPND pump to replace my single speed Northstar pump. There are two versions of the TriStar VS, the VSP and the VSPND. The VSPND doesn't have the display module, and is designed to be driven by a Hayward automation controller. The display module is actually a standalone RS-485 controller, so if you have the VSP model and want to connect it to your AquaLogic/ProLogic controller you have to disconnect the display. Note this is different from the EcoStar pump which has two data buses; one for the display module and another for the automation controller.

The SP3200VSP is an older model; there is also a SP3202VSPND. Hayward claims you need the newer one if you have one of the newer Omnilogic controllers, but the manuals for the two models are identical, so who knows.

Once I get it hooked up I'll check out the protocol; I'm guessing it is the same as the EcoStar.
