Wired Remote Repair

Sean Wilson edited this page May 8, 2020 · 2 revisions

One of my wired remotes (AQL-WW-P-4) stopped transmitting. It would beep when you pressed a button, but nothing would happen. Hooked a logic analyzer up to the RS-485 transceiver on the remote, and saw this when I pushed a button.

The top two traces are the A & B lines. The received data shows their signals are inverted, as expected. But when transmitting they are not inverted, which indicates something has gone wrong inside the transceiver.

The transceiver is a MaxLinear SP3072EEN. Ordered a new one from Digi-Key, swapped it out and the remote is back in business.
