The new DwC website is only themed with Bootstrap. It would be good to create a TDWG theme to give the website some TDWG branding. Could be done by using some overwriting CSS or going all the way with SASS or LESS. I think the latter (or maybe the theming in general) should only be tackled when the TDWG website gets an overhaul (tdwg/infrastructure#61).

The following files in assets were used by the old DwC website, but not by the new one and can be removed (see #20):

  • default.js
  • default.css
  • tdwg.css

@mdoering @tucotuco should this be tackled before website launch? Not sure I will find the time before December...

I think we should be careful about the timing of the website launch. With the meeting coming up, any presentations that make reference to Darwin Core will expect it to look exactly as it does now, and changing it could create chaos for such people at the last minute. It would be fine to have an alternate to look at and show, but we should wait for any major change until the meeting is done in my opinion.

I see no real hurry to try to make anything TDWG branded.

Update: to be launched DwC website only contains the Quick reference guide and uses newly developed https://github.com/tdwg/tdwg-theme. It links to the CSS and JS from http://dev.tdwg.org: this should be update once we have a production website. That task is described here: tdwg/website#19, so I'm closing this.
