What is Prokka

Prokka does not need any presentation; it's the most popular automatic annotation pipeline for prokaryotic genomes developed by Torsten Seemann.

Why Metaprokka

I started annotating tens of thousands of metagenome assemblies (from public repositories) and realized that the annoying tbl2asn was taking time for no practical reason and that the very similar output.fss and output.fna files were consuming a lot of disk space. This led me to start tweaking a metagenome specific version of Prokka. The task is hard, and probably if it wasn't Mokka would be already here, but I am happy of a usable compromise for some large scale metagenome projects.
