Team Payment Proposal

This is a proposal to take 30% of the 30 day budgetary funds for team payment for 12 months.

This is still voted on every month so it can be down voted at any time if things need to change. I also can put in revised additions if things need to change. These revised additions will also need to be voted on.

Break down of the block rewards

45% miners, 45% masternodes, 10% budgetary funds

216,000 TRC a month generated by block rewards
97,200 a month goes to miners. (45%)
97,200 a month goes to masternodes. (45%)
21,600 a month goes to budgeting. (10%)

6480 a month to team. (30% of budgetary funds)

If approved that money will all come to me and I will distribute it according to these rules. The pay outs will be via the blockchain so that it available to everyone to view.

5 different levels of pay: 1 - very part time (2 hours a day), 2 - part time (4 hours a day), 3 - almost full time (6 hours a day), 4 - full time (8 hours a day), 5 – Overtime (More then 8 hours a day)

Each position will have a level that they can’t go above.

Positions will be clearly mark out ahead of time so that there is no confusion.

We want to have the ability to pay 50 “slots” worth of people. This means we could have 10 total overtime team members or 5 overtime members with a variety of other people filling other time “slots.”

Also since the time a person may work will fluctuate depending on schedule and level of commitment we need to be flexible.

Each “slot” will be paid 129.6 TRC a month.

At the end of each month each team member will put in an average of the time they worked by week.

For example, if I worked 4 – full time for three weeks of the month and 1 – very part time for the other week I would submit the average which is 3.25 “slots” for that month and then would be paid 421.2 TRC for that months work.

Obviously the time would have to be verified to a point. We will be starting out on a sort of honor system, but if someone is putting in hours and nothing is getting done then they will get paid out for the month and let go.

If all of the “slots” aren’t filled up then there will be a surplus of TRC for that months pay out. This will be distributed in 3 ways.

  1. 10% of the surplus will be saved for an emergency
  2. 10% of the surplus will be used for a team member of the month vote by active team members.
  3. 80% of the surplus will be divided amount all of the team by hours submitted for that month.

Extended example.

Lets say we have three team members who are able to work 5 – Overtime, two team members who are able to work 2 – Part time, and one team member who are able to work 1 – Very Part Time.

Abdul (5) calculates his month that he worked 4,4,5,2 = 3.75
Ben (5) calculates his month that he worked 5,5,1,3 = 3.5
Clarice (5) calculates her month that she worked 4,5,4,5 = 4.5
Dan (2) calculates his month that he worked as 2,2,2,2= 2
Elizabeth (2) calculates her month that she worked as 1,2,2,2= 1.75
Frank (1) calculates his month that he worked 1,1,1,1= 1

Abdul will get paid 486 TRC for his base monthly pay.
Ben will get paid 453.6 TRC for his base monthly pay.
Clarice will get paid 583.2 TRC for her monthly pay.
Dan will get paid 259.2 TRC for his monthly pay.
Elizabeth will get paid 226.8 TRC for her monthly pay.
Frank will get paid 129.6 TRC for his monthly pay.

The total team budget available is 6480 a month.
Only 2138.4 is used for this month.

That means there is 4341.6 surplus in the team pay budget.

10% will be used saved for emergencies = 434.16 TRC
10% will be used for team member of the month = 434.16 TRC

The remainder of the surplus (3473.28 TRC) is divided up by slots worked between all of the team.

16.5 total slots worked.

Abdul worked 22.7% of the slots so he gets 788.47996 TRC of the surplus
Ben worked 21.2% of the slots so he gets 736.33536 TRC of the surplus
Clarice worked 27.2% of the slots so she gets 944.73216 TRC of the surplus
Dan worked 12.1% of the slots so he gets 420.26688 TRC of the surplus
Elizabeth worked 9.4% of the slots so she gets 326.48832 TRC of the surplus
Frank worked 6% of the slots so he will get 208.3968 TRC of the surplus

There will always be a little difference when converting hours worked into percentages and that left over amount will be used for emergencies.

Hopefully I did my math correctly.

We currently need to keep the team members we have and work on adding more skilled people to the team. In order to do this we need to have some sort of pay plan even if it is a token amount currently.

Thank you!

I think we should pay for results and not just for the abstract time worked.
From my point of view the community should know what project is being paid and what project is being elaborated.
We are seeing a great result achieved by clockuniverse right now: the implementation of Mns and the dGovernment that should be compensated as soon as possible.
To pay people for the time they'd use for something not known in advance is just not efficient, from my point of view.
Of course I'm open for the discussion and ready to change my mind before I go on voting.

I voted, because wanted Clock-U group received a reward worthy, that he made Terracoin grow as it is today. But I also fully support your views Johnwhitestar. All future expenditures ... must be clearly communicated! I suggest, we need to discuss ... Give way to TerraCoin step by step, step by step development.

How would a project by project case work for say, paying me to reply to this comment? Should I put in a proposal for the 20 minutes it is going to take me, then wait 30 days before it gets approved and then reply?
What about when I add seed nodes to the DNS seed node every Saturday? Should I put in a proposal for that?
How about when I reset the shared invite for Slack and then go through and change it everywhere? Proposal?
How about when I email exchanges asking them when the TRC wallet will be updated? Proposal?
How about when I reply to comments on Bitcointalk? Or Reddit? Or when I have meetings with film makers, or white board specialists? Proposals for each one of those?
How about when I am helping someone set up their masternode? Proposal?
How about when I was testing the wallet? Proposal?
We need pay to pay for our time. This time will include lots of little things, but also lots of big things.
If people on the team are getting paid and aren’t doing anything then they will be fired, just like a normal job.
People are currently working for free trying to make TRC great, and this proposal gives them a token payment until TRC is worth more.
There will be a public ledger of pay outs each month, and we also are trying to organize what everyone is working on more with this public Trello board. I just set it up yesterday, so it is still in its infancy, but it will be a sort of roadmap, and show what has been accomplished.

Hello Clockuniverse. I'd like to introduce myself and thank you and the team for the work you've done so far. It's more than right that you get paid for your efforts so I will vote yes. I'd actually like to see you and the developer who implemented masternodes employed full time at some point if you're willing.

All that said, I think the details of your proposal are a bit too imprecise to stand for the long term, and let's bear in mind that 6480 TRC could easily be $6500 at some point in the not too distant future so we're not necessarily dealing with chump change here! You are proposing:

If all of the “slots” aren’t filled up then there will be a surplus of TRC for that months pay out. This will be distributed in 3 ways.

10% of the surplus will be saved for an emergency
10% of the surplus will be used for a team member of the month vote by active team members.
80% of the surplus will be divided amount all of the team by hours submitted for that month.

This appears to mean that if everyone on the team worked (say) half an hour in a month you'd share out TRC 6480 in exactly the same way as if everyone had worked full time (EDIT: less 10% retained). I'm not suggesting you will game the system just that the mere possibility is potentially off-putting and is not in alignment with the real world. I'm also not suggesting that you need to submit a proposal before doing X minutes work ;) - just something a little more concrete.

Perhaps you (we?) could look at improving/formalising the distribution mechanism when you have the non-profit foundation in place and when we have established a stable basement price for TRC?

Please consider the above to be constructive feedback and not criticism and, again, thanks for your sterling work so far :) You will have my vote.

PS If this command is right, looks like you're 100% YES right now:

So the idea is to keep the payment amounts flexible to allow new people to join and because some people can’t work a regular schedule. This is why there is a lot of wiggle room on how much someone gets paid.

The surplus is split up depending on how many hours someone worked. I guess everyone could just say they didn’t work that much so it all is split equally between everyone. It still wouldn’t be that much money.

The goal is for the team to be able to quit their day jobs and still get paid market rates. From my math TRC would need to be about $5 for 10 people to work full time at current market rates. That is my long term goal for the Terracoin Foundation.

It will make more sense after this first pay out. I will post a public ledger for it.

Getting the non-profit setup has been moved to a higher priority because we need to confirm everyone’s position and resources. I do need to talk to a lawyer though about that as we will be having people from other countries who will be a part of it.

Thanks for your feedback! And it will get more locked down in the future!

Also it looks like 1 person voted no. :)

I think it does not make sense to use only 30% of the whole amount we have while making people working on the demi-voluntary base.
I'd like much more the clockuniverse team to take the whole amount we have right now to do their projects.
Still I think that the projects have to be known and voted one by one in advance.
Maybe the clockuniverse team thinks that something is a priority, but the dGovernment thinks its not.
Who is serving whom?
Clockuniverse's team is serving the TRC Community or the TRC Community that invested ca 500.000 USD in Mn's is just following the clockuniverse's team decisions without having the possibility to intervene?
The proposal put in this way gives also no space for the concurrence.
For instance everybody knows that I don't like the terracoin.io site, I'd never vote yes for the proposal to make it redesign by the same web "designer" but I can't vote him out because he is a part of the whole package.
Maybe there is another web designer that would like to offer his services, but he can't because nobody know exactly what will be done for the money asked and the developers will be working on the demi-voluntary bases so for someone who is a good professional it's just impossible to compete.
I was relatively ok with the clockuniverse decisions till now because he was doing all with his own money, but from the moment the community has the money to finance projects the decisions has to be taken by community and everybody who acts on behalf of community has to ask what is accepted and what is not.
Another aspect here is that the proposal is recurring as far as I understand, so the clockuniverse's team will not have to submit it each time, while some one else who'd like to compete will have to spend money for each proposal to make.
Last but not least, the idea of TRC community guided by TRC Foundation, expressed in the first video that was produced some week ago may constitute a point of failure for the coin. In case of any kind of attack on TRC Foundation the TRC may be in danger. And even in absence of such an apocalyptic scenario if the TRC Foundation become a company that guides the coin, TRC will risks to become the property of the TRC Foundation with time.
So I think that the role of TRC Foundation has to be discussed and decided by TRC Community before the clockuniverse's team put the concepts into videos and official documents.
I understand very well how much clockuniverse has done for the community but we have to compete with the others coins and for me as investor the unclear decision processes and the absence of the concurrence are just scary.
Still I'm not voting no for the moment, because I think that the discussion is the key for our future success.

If you think you can do a better job on the website, as a leading role, as whatever, then put in a proposal to make those changes. Complaining that you don't like what is occuring, is not going to make any difference. Creating a proposal for change however, will make a change if its voted through.
I.E. If you don't like the website, create a proposal to make a new website. If you don't like the allocation of funds to the Terracoin Foundation, create a proposal and counter the existing proposal with your own allocation of funds. If you don't like the way the Terracoin Foundation is leading TRC .. again, put in a proposal to change that. If you don't like me on the Terracoin Foundation, or other members ... yup, put in a proposal to change that. If you want the coin to stagnate and nothing be done, no maintenance and all the sites to be shutdown .. yup! proposal!

If you want every single thing thats to be done to be put into proposals that the foundation does or plans to do to promote this, then you will find that next to no work gets done, as people would be waiting for proposals all the time and conflicts will arise. Go take a look at dash's proposals for a set of examples. If you want to join the foundation, maybe submit a proposal and have a meaningful voice if you are voted in.

At the end of the day though, I don't think anybody wants the Terracoin Foundation to go away, as there is plenty we all do for free with no compensation. Me? Personally? MY portion, if I get any from this proposal, has already been directed to donations. I'll continue to help for free, but that doesn't mean there isn't server expenses or other people that should be compensated for the amount of time and expenses they have and continue to put into this.

I decided to vote yes, because I was making wrong assumptions about the private and public businesses and funds.
It's just not important if TRC Foundation is public or private organization, since they are not asking funds to make products they'll be selling to someone. The products or services they are going to offer will be free for all the members of community. In the same time they are not asking all the funds so to let space to anyone who'd like to help the community as well, even if for the moment we don't have such a strong team that would be able to offer the products and services that TRC Foundation can offer. Clockuniverse and his team has already showed us what they can do and they did it with their own money now we can contribute with our vote to make them work for the community using our public funds. I'd suggest them to make the next proposal not just in terms of payments to split among the members of their team, but in terms of the things they are planning to be done, costs they are considering for each product or service they'll delivery and deadlines they are going to have for those activities. Its only my suggestion, but if TRC Foundation will decide differently I'm now convinced that they can do the proposals in whatever form they prefer, because it's a matter of their strategy as a team. As I did a lot of reasoning about all the above matters by myself and with the members of TRC Foundation if you have any concern or question to make about the subject you can contact me on bitcointalk or slack and I'll be happy to explain better my position in order to save time of the TRC Foundation members as well.

I pretty much agree with johnwhitestar. At this time the important thing is to keep clockuniverse on board hence my vote being unconditionally yes (this time). We can and should take another more detailed look at salaries when things settle down. I hope the next proposal will be more concrete and would be happy to help plan it if need be and I imagine you (John) would too?

I also received some private comms following my post and am happy to help anyone out if they wish to email me (click on my profile and then click through to my work profile to get my email address).

I think you guys are missing something critical in the proposal. I don’t know if I didn’t explain it well enough, or if I made assumptions about things.

The proposal is flexible because we plan on adding more and more people to the team. Each of these new people will take up new roles and we specifically are trying to attract a developer to the team to replace our freelance developer.

As each person is added the rest of the team is paid less. The idea behind this is that as the price goes up there will be more team members and it will even out in the long run.

At the current price 6000 TRC is $1500 which wouldn’t even pay my normal day job salary, and that is just for me alone.

We are splitting it dynamically though, so that if someone can only work a very part time amount they will still get paid, but at a lesser rate then people who are working 12 hour days. Also, if someone can only work for a week but 12 hours a day during that week then it is split so they get ¼ then a person who works 12 hour days all month.

This flexibility is important in the cryptoworld because people come and go all the time. They may do some awesome work for 2 weeks, but then completely disappear.

For the current team the payments are just token payments because it doesn’t even get close to the amount we are working and should be paid.

It is important to pay people, even if it is a token amount, so that they won’t disappear and to attract more people to the team.

People need some rewards to continue working the hours we have been working.

As for what we are doing with our time; it is just tons of tiny things all stacked together.

I try to encourage what I call “Community Support” as the first priority because the only way to keep people interested in the community is to be available to help them.

I don’t think any other coin has such an active team with the community and this is extremely important so that people know what is going on.

While we are doing that, we also are working on other things, for example, the Mac wallet came out today.

I have set up this public Trello board so people can get a general idea of the major items that we are working on. Obviously this doesn’t even list half of what we are doing, and I still have about 50 items I plan to add to it, but you can look at it and see what is up.

I hope that makes more sense. Thanks!

Not too long, the TRC price will be $ 100 ... That means, the bonus for the development team will be $ 600,000 monthly .. Try to ^ _ °
I hope that the Fund for TRC Development Team will be like Dash or is more in the future!

Merry Christmas, Kevin!
We were set back a month because of the network issues, but the future is looking good! We added another developer, partnered with a Korean cryptoschool, and our next hard fork will probably have atomic swap and multi-algo.
Sadly, we haven't been added to coinpayment, but once we get atomic swap running that won't really matter.
We have been added to another low volume exchange and we hope to gain more exchanges in the future.
I recommend reading the weekly update I post every week: https://medium.com/@clockuniverse/dec-21st-terracoin-update-cusp-3b702fcf3f4f
