@curiositycasualty Were you able to narrow down what required these lines? We weren't able to determine why they were there in the first place…

Due to wildy varied differences of how different distributions manage
their `$PATH`, we augment the existing path with more locations to
search before attempting the fallback/downloader code.

As suggested by @scotthain

Closes #666
