Gemified rmate with minimal modification.
Did bundle gem and tweaked version stuff to use Rmate::VERSION.

Will this allow users to install directly from the GitHub repository?

If not, what is the benefit of this? Do you push it to RubyForge or similar?

I haven’t tried to package a gem before but I would love to make it easier to install rmate on servers, but unsure if your commit brings us closer to that.

@sorbits: If you pull this in, you can release the gem to rubygems.org by running rake release, assuming you have the bundler gem installed. IIRC it will ask you for a rubygems.org login on first run (unless you already have a key in ~/.gem/credentials)

You can also build the gem locally with gem build rmate.gemspec.

May want to tweak the author/email fields in rmate.gemspec first.

Pulled (with a few changes) as ed156ff and gem pushed to rubygems.org.
