Recipe Api Information

• BIGOVEN.COM: Wow! What an impressive list of more than 350,000 recipes – and what a perfect client for your natural language and voice recognition API.

• ALLRECIPES.COM / YUMMLY: My research shows that Yummly has indexed all of AllRecipes’ recipes and made them available through the Yummly Recipe API & Food API. A Venture Beat article in February 2016 reports that Yummly has had over 15 million unique visitors. What potential!

• EPICURIOUS.COM: This site allows searchers to filter by: meal/course, dish type, dietary considerations, main ingredients, cuisine, holiday/celebrations, and preparation method, and includes an accompanying shopping list.

• FOODNETWORK.COM: Their Recipe Box seems to have an extensive collection, but I couldn’t find any information on how well it was organized or good they’d be in a collaborative effort.

• EDAMAM RECIPE SEARCH API: This is touted as “the world’s central food database” featuring more than 1.5 million recipes and may be a great candidate! The site features “highly accurate, real-time nutrition and recipe data”.

• FOODILY: This source/site offers “the broadest selection of recipes online” and allows for a refined search. One item of note is that FreshDirect and Foodily launched PopCart in 2014, which connects all the ingredients within recipes and allows for a grocery delivery order.

• ALLTHECOOKS: This highly-rated recipe collection includes more than 150,000 recipes. Recipes are categorized by titles, groupings (like main dishes and appetizers), as well as by ingredients, and Users can save and share their shopping lists.

• RECIPAL: This food and nutrition API allows Users to manage the site’s ingredient and recipe databases, and also provides nutritional analysis, food labels, and recipe costing.

• WILLIAMS-SONOMA: This collection allows Users to search by course (appetizers, beverages, breads, breakfast, desserts, main courses, salads, side dishes, and soups), as well as by season and featured chef, though I couldn’t find a comprehensive number of how many recipes they have.

• PLANTOEAT: This meal planner and grocery shopping list maker allows Users to collect recipes into their own books, as well as to attach a Recipe Clipper Extension and Bookmark imports from favorite websites. Additionally, they can drag-and-drop recipes into a planner, and print / access-by-phone grocery shopping lists.

• FOOD2FORK RECIPE API: Research shows that this source has more than 200,000 recipes, though since it pulls them from various blogs and recipe sites, the data may not be that clean or organized.

• PEARSON KITCHEN MANAGER: Although this source/site seemed to have great potential (even with only 3000+ recipes), Pearson reports that their “API set is currently experiencing an outage which has resulted in the APIs being inaccessible.” They report they do not have an ETA for resolution of this problem.

Additionally, check the world’s largest API Repository (http://www.programmableweb.com/category/all/apis?keyword=recipe) to find a comprehensive list of recipe-related APIs and recipe search engines.
