Hi folks - does 22 and 23 November work for team members? Please comment below if you could come to the Turing for at least part of those two days 😸

List of folks who can attend:

Update COOL! It looks like we can do those days! I think we're just waiting on @annakrystalli (who I've emailed with and I think the dates are ok), and @LouiseABowler and the "other Turing RSE" but as they're based at Turing we should be ok.

I've pinged @amitmulji in this thread to be able to give you information about booking your travel (thank you @pherterich for reminding me!) so that's the next step.....but for now just save the dates please!

Some more things on the to do list:

  • Booked rooms at Turing Institute
  • Book travel and accomodation (KW sent emails to Turing travel agency....see below to check that the information is correct!)
  • Add names to security list so you can get into the building
  • Create an agenda - see Sprint 21/22 Nov - agenda #18

Travel requirements

Accomodation:

Train:

  • @alexmorley: no travel required
  • @annakrystalli: 18:00 Sheffield ➡️ London Euston on 21; 16:42 London Euston ➡️ Sheffield on 24
  • @pherterich: 7:30 Birmingham New Street ➡️ London Euston on 22; 19:03 London Euston ➡️ Birmingham New Street on 23
  • @r-j-arnold: 15:00 Sheffield ➡️ London St Pancras on 21; 20:02 London St Pancras ➡️ Sheffield on 24
  • @rosiehigman: 17:35 Manchester Piccadilly ➡️ London Euston on 21; 19:00 London Euston ➡️ Manchester Piccadilly on 22

Extremely unlikely to be able to make it :(

I can do the 23rd :)

I can do either day but not both :)

Sorry you can’t make it @betatim! Thanks for letting me know.

@alexmorley - that’s really great that you can come on 23. I’ll build the schedule to focus on the container solutions on that day 😸

@rosiehigman - I think I’d like you to come on the first day please. I think that will be the most useful day to have you there as we start scoping roles and goals etc.

Looks pretty good already, so nice to see everyone keen to meet up and kick this off properly!

@KirstieJane could you provide us Turing external people with some hints how to get travel and accomodation sorted closer to the date please? Thank you!

YES! Excellent. @amitmulji is now in the project which is SUPER helpful.

Amit - what's the best way for folks to book travel to the Turing for this sprint?

@LouiseABowler

I can be there both days - looking forward to meeting everyone!

@rosiehigman, @annakrystalli, @r-j-arnold, @pherterich & @alexmorley! I think @amitmulji is super busy at the moment, so I chatted with @jamespjh and the plan is for me to charge your travel to my fellowship budget and then we can re-charge the money when things are a little calmer on the "getting a million projects started at the same time" front!

So, please could you add to this thread (so long as you feel comfortable making this information public) the train times that you'd like to take and which nights you need accomodation for 😸

I'd like to get started at 9:30am on both days if possible, so if that means taking a train the night before then please do just grab the extra night in the hotel. If you're not able to come down the night before, that's totally fine and we can rejig the schedule to fit better.

Going home you're welcome to stay an extra night (so it doesn't really matter when we finish) or we'll aim to be done by 5:30pm both days. (We can finish earlier if there's a strong preference in the group!)

I don't have to be done by any particular time on the 23rd, so I'm fine to go past 5:30.

I was thinking of taking the 15:00 -> 17:02 from Sheffield to St Pancras on the 21st, and the 20:02 -> 22:18 back on the 24th, so I'd need accomadation for the 21st, 22nd and 23rd

I was thinking 17:35 Manchester Piccadilly - 19:41 Euston on 21st, and 19:00 Euston - 21:05 Manchester Piccadilly on 22nd. I'll stay with family on 21st so won't need accommodation :)

I tend to go to London early in the morning and relying on your fancy coffee machine to get me through the day ;).
So my trains would be on the 22nd 7:30 Birmingham New Street - 8:43 London Euston (or the cheap 6:54 train and I'll walk a bit quicker to the BL)
and on the 23rd 19:03 London Euston - 20:27 Birmingham New Street
I'll need accommodation for the 22nd please.

I would prefer to head down on the 21st also but a bit later than @r-j-arnold so am happy with any train from Sheffield to Euston after 17:30, eg the 18:00 would do nicely). I also don't need to be back on the 23rd so happy to stay on that night too if you think it will be useful. For a return on the 24th, 16:42 Euston to Sheffield would be great.

So I'll need accommodation for 21, 22 & 23 please. :)

@KirstieJane It'd be great to have accommodation of the 22nd if possible (then I'd be able to make #7 too). I can sort transport. Thanks!
