1. Get an OpenAI API key 🔑

1. Go to https://platform.openai.com/account/api-keys.
2. Click on the + Create new secret key button.
3. Click on the Create secret key button.

2. Two methods to enter your API key

In terms of security, using the secrets manager is considered more secure because it provides encryption and an additional layer of protection for sensitive information like API keys. It minimizes the risk of exposing the API key accidentally or through unauthorized access.

1. Set up your OpenAI API Key by entering it in the app's sidebar. You can obtain an API key from the OpenAI Platform. 🔑

Streamlit Secrets Management

To set the OpenAI API key as an environment variable in Streamlit apps:

1. At the lower right corner, click on < Manage app then click on the vertical "..." followed by clicking on Settings.
2. This brings the App settings, next click on the Secrets tab and paste the API key into the text box as follows:

   OPENAI_API_KEY='xxxxxxxxxx'

Your API key is safe

• 🔒 Encryption - Your API key will be encrypted both in memory and at - rest, providing an extra layer of security.
• 🛡 Scope isolation - The API key will be scoped to your Streamlit app.
• 🙅‍♂️ Inaccessibility from client - The client browser will not be able to access the API key stored in st.secret.
• 🙌 Easy management - You can store and access the API key within your Streamlit app code using the simple st.secret API.
• ✅ Separation of concerns - st.secret enforces separating your API key from your app logic, following best practices.

Run it locally

1. Download this repository to your local machine. 📥
2. Open the terminal or command prompt and navigate to the directory where you downloaded the folder. 💻
3. Create a Python virtual environment for the project. Run the following commands in the terminal: 🛠️

   python -m venv [project_venv]
   .\[project_venv]\Scripts\activate (Windows)
   source ./[project_venv]/bin/activate (macOS/Linux)
   pip install -r requirements.txt

4. Start the Streamlit app by running the following command in the terminal: 💭
