If I try to install fprintd and libfprint-vfs0090-git, I get the following prompt:

:: libfprint-vfs0090-git and libfprint are in conflict. Remove libfprint? [y/N]

I press y and get these errors thrown at me:

error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: libfprint-vfs0090-git and libfprint are in conflict

I guess this has something to with libfprint being required for fprintd, but since libfprint-vfs0090-git provides libfprint, shouldn't it be possible to install?

It is indeed possible to install.

You could just install libfprint-vfs0090-git first and then install fprintd.
Other way round: Install fprintd and libfprint and after that libfprint-vfs0090-git, where you remove libfprint during installation.

Other packages, which require installing and subsequent removing of packages are e.g. mingw-w64-gcc.

That's what I tried. I have fprintd and libfprint currently installed and execute trizen -S libfprint-vfs0090-git which results in the above output.
I just tried with aurman which installs as expected.
