If you are having difficulties typing Chinese characters, you may need to configure a Chinese Input Method (IME) in your operating system. Here's how:
- on Windows
- On Ubuntu Linux or Mac OS : go to System Parameters->Language settings. You may need to consult your Operating System's documentation.

- Type some Chinese, we will fill in the transcription, tone coloring, and translation for you.
- support for 5 different transcriptions
- support for translation in English, French, and German (through off-line dictionaries)
- support for Chinese Text-to-speech through GoogleTTS (Mandarin and Cantonese) or Baidu Translate (Mandarin only). If you are living in PR China, you may want to use Baidu Translate as GoogleTTS is often undergoing censorship
Advanced features:
- intelligent handling of characters with multiple pronunciations (多音字) with lookup of pronunciation in the words dictionary (词典) first (if available).
- advanced configurability of the edit behavior makes it easier for you to hack the add-on.
